Dateutils are a bunch of tools that revolve around fiddling with dates and times in the command line, with a strong focus on use cases that arise when dealing with large amounts of financial data. Their target market is shell scripts that need date calculations or calendar conversions, and as such they are highly pipe-able and modeled after their well-known cousins (e.g. dtest vs. test, or dgrep vs. grep).

Various archive formats can be created, extracted, tested, listed, searched, compared, and repacked by patool. The advantage of patool is its simplicity in handling archive files without having to remember
myriad programs and options. The archive format is determined by the file(1) program and as a
fallback by the archive file extension. patool supports 7z (.7z), ACE (.ace), ADF (.adf), ALZIP (.alz), APE (.ape), AR (.a), ARC (.arc), ARJ (.arj), bzip2 (.bz2),
CAB (.cab), COMPRESS (.Z), CPIO (.cpio), deb (.deb), DMS (.dms), FLAC (.flac), gzip (.gz), ISO (.iso), LRZIP (.lrz), LZH (.lha, .lzh), LZIP (.lz), LZMA (.lzma), LZOP (.lzo), RPM (.rpm), RAR (.rar), RZIP (.rz), SHN (.shn), tar (.tar), XZ (.xz), zip (.zip, .jar),
and ZOO (.zoo) formats. It relies on helper applications to handle those archive formats
(for example bzip2 for BZIP2 archives). The archive formats tar, zip, bzip2, and gzip are supported natively and do not require helper applications to be
installed.

Tomb is a system to make strong encryption easy for everyday use. A tomb is like a locked folder that can be safely transported and hidden in a filesystem. Its keys can be kept separate; for example, you can keep the tomb on your computer and its key on a USB stick. Tomb is written in code that is easy to review and links shared components: it consists of a ZShell script and desktop integration apps; it uses standard GNU tools and the cryptographic API of the Linux kernel (dm-crypt) via cryptsetup.

twstools is a simple set of command line tools around the Interactive Brokers TWS API with the purpose of having a powerful scriptable toolbox to automate "jobs" like downloading historical data, tracking account info or submitting orders, etc.

libpetey is a small scientific/numerical computation library. It includes the following components: templated sorting routines; templated binary tree classes; a templated linked-list class; routines for finding the k-least and k-greatest elements in an array; "supernewton", a one-dimensional root-finding algorithm based on cubic interpolation; a class for working with dates and times; a function for easy parsing of command line options; datasets (the beginnings of a data-representation paradigm that generalizes matrices but is mainly useful for n-dimensional linear interpolation); and sparse matrix library including command-line utilities for sparse matrix multiplication and eigenvalue decomposition as well as a sparse matrix calculator.

Autojump is a tool that acts as a complement to cd: it makes navigating your filesystem a lot faster. It works by automagically maintaining a database of the directories you use the most from the command line, and allows you to jump back and forth between them, by typing just a few letters of the name of the directory you want to jump to. It works for Linux, Mac, and Cygwin under Windows.

csvDB is an SQL engine for CSV (comma separated values) files, allowing files to be searched as if they were database tables. It includes both a library and a client, allowing it to be used programatically and from the command line.

tw (short for "Translate word") translates words into different languages from the commandline. It uses internal local dictionaries and the Google and FreeTranslation engines.

rainbarf provides fancy resource usage charts to put into the tmux (and GNU screen) status line.

getlock is a command-line lockfile utility that uses 'fcntl' style locks, which release if the program exits. getlock normally locks one or more files and then runs a command, but it can be run without a command in order to just lock the files. It can also run a command if all the locks cannot be made, kill off current lock owners, write a PID to a lock file, and background, but still keep the lock, for use in shell scripts.

Atem is a fast command line tool that converts MetaStock financial binary data to CSV.
