SysExxer is a tool to send and receive MIDI-Device
system exclusive data (a.k.a. SysEx). Its goals
are ease of use, flexibility, and universality.

JACK Meterbridge is a software meterbridge for
the Unix-based JACK audio system. It supports a
number of different types of meters, rendered
using the SDL library and user-editable pixmaps.

footware is a tiny program that lets you use a MIDI-input device as a PC-keyboard extension. For example, the author uses a 10-key foot-controller (hence the name "footware") to send keypress events like "esc", "shift", "ctrl", "end", and "alt".

Wechselspieler is a tool for mapping motion data
from a video stream onto sound events in the MIDI
and OSC protocols. It features a GUI for easy
selection of trigger regions in a video stream and
mapping these to individual sound events. It
supports various video input sources, such as
Video4Linux devices, movie files, and FireWire
cameras. As output, it supports ALSA based MIDI
devices and the UDP based OSC (OpenSoundControl)
protocol for integration with MIDI hard/software
and OSC-capable software like PD, SuperCollider,
and Max/MSP.

ALSA Patch Bay is a small GUI patchbay for
connecting ALSA MIDI ports or JACK audio ports.

KMetronome is a MIDI metronome with KDE interface, based
on the ALSA sequencer. The intended audience is musicians
and music students. Like solid, real metronomes it is a tool
to keep the rhythm while playing musical instruments. It
uses MIDI for sound generation instead of digital audio,
allowing low CPU usage, and very accurate timing thanks to
the ALSA sequencer.

LibSMF is a BSD-licensed C library for handling
SMF ("*.mid") files. It transparently handles
conversions between time and pulses, tempo map
handling, etc. The only dependencies are a C
compiler and glib. Full API documentation and
examples are included.

Simsam is a simple MIDI sample playback program. You can use it to play drum samples and loops from a MIDI keyboard or sequencer. It relies on ALSA and JACK, as well as Qt for the GUI.

AdlMIDI is a command line program that plays MIDI files using software OPL3 emulation (FM synthesis). It has a console UI. It features a built-in selection of 50 patch sets, most of which are General MIDI compatible, but some of which are customized for playing original background music soundtracks of select PC games.

YConsole allows you to monitor and control the Y
server in a GUI environment. It also features a
set of windows including the YAudio window, YMixer
window, and YPlayer window that allow you to
control all aspects of the Y server. The YPlayer
window allows you to play sound objects and
control audio CDs.

Dino is a pattern based MIDI sequencer that uses
JACK MIDI and JACK transport to send MIDI events
and synchronize with other sequencers and
transport aware programs.

Schnolgo is a musical composition system. It has a number of unique features, including a way of handling polyrhythmic timing which provides a flexibility one cannot easily achieve with traditional sequencing programs or sound programming environments. Currently, Schnolgo is in the form of a Python package, and its main output format for compositions written in it is MIDI.

RX/Saturno is an emulator for the popular Yamaha DX7 synthesizer keyboard. It uses FM synthesis to produce the sound. It works by registering itself as an ALSA sequencer client.

Rmidi is a simple command line ALSA MIDI
recording/playback program for Linux.
