DirectFB is a thin library that provides developers with hardware graphics acceleration, input device handling and abstraction, an integrated windowing system with support for translucent windows and multiple display layers on top of the Linux framebuffer device. It is a complete hardware abstraction layer with software fallbacks for every graphics operation that is not supported by the underlying hardware.

Oolite is an independent reinterpretation and ehancement of the classic space sim game Elite for modern computers. The result is a space trading and combat simulation offering encounters with pirates, police, bounty hunters, the occasional alien menace, and other surprises along the way. While striving to reach the coveted Elite status, the players set their own path through the various galaxies, choosing to be trader, pirate, or bounty hunter depending on the situation at hand, and their own judgement. The game is hugely expandable, using a combination of property lists and JavaScript. Oolite's active modding community already provides more than 200 OXPs (Oolite eXpansion Packs). Among them are a huge variety of missions, weapons, ships, and extra career paths over and above what's available within the core game, as well as a number of other gameplay enhancements and customizations.

view3dscene is a browser for VRML (1.0 and 2.0) and X3D, and a viewer for other 3D model formats (3DS, MD3, Wavefront OBJ, and Collada are handled). It supports viewing the scene in the "Examine" mode and walking in the virtual world with features such as collision detection and gravity. Rendering is done using OpenGL. Many advanced 3D graphic effects are available, like mirrors (flat and through cube environment mapping), shadows (shadow maps and shadow volumes), GLSL shaders and more. The program can also convert files from 3DS, MD3, Collada and other formats to X3D and pretty-print VRML and X3D files.

OptiPNG is a PNG optimizer that recompresses the image files to a smaller size without losing any data. It works in a manner similar to pngcrush, but it has a wider automatic search space (leading to possibly a better compression), and it runs faster.

gThumb is an image viewer written for the GNOME environment. It lets you browse your hard disk, showing you thumbnails of image files. It also lets you view single files (including GIF animations), organize images in catalogs, print images, view slideshows, set your desktop background, and more. gThumb also supports Nautilus thumbnails.

Inspired by EtherPEG, Driftnet is a program which listens to network traffic and picks out images from TCP streams it observes. It is interesting to run it on a host which sees a lot of web traffic.

【XTBook】MediaWiki Viewer for Sharp Brain:

XTBook is a piece of software developed by Nexhawks and allows you to browse MediaWiki-based wiki sites on a SHARP Brain series electronic dictionary, a Windows PC, and a Mac. It supports Wikiplexus formatted data generated from a dump file of a MediaWiki-based wiki site and Image-Complex formatted data generated from image files. Also, XTBook can search articles in a second from more than 1,000,000 keys by using a searching database embedded in XTBook Wikiplexus.

Concepts:

• Processes a wiki site in the same procedure as Wikipedia as much as possible
• Prioritizes processing accuracy
• Supports JPEG and HTML

　FreeMindは、議論やアイデアをまとめる手法であるマインドマップを作成するためのフリーのソフトウェアです。簡単にグラフィカルなマインドマップを作成できるほか、作成したマインドマップをPDFやPNG、HTMLといった形式で保存する機能も備えています。

　FreeMindで作成したマインドマップは自由に展開/折り畳みができ、またWebブラウザで動的に動くマップを作成することもできます。

マインドマップとは？

　マインドマップは、ある対象について、関連するキーワードや想起されるイメージを放射状に繋げながら描いていくことで分析/表現を行うものです。キーワードやイメージを繋げていく表現方法は人間の脳が物事を記憶/分析する方法に近いと言われており、物事の特徴を把握しやすく図示する方法であると言われています。

　マインドマップの基本的な作成ルールは非常に単純です。まず、分析/表現したい対象を中心に書き、そこから放射状に線を延ばしてその事柄に関連するキーワードや想起されるキーワードを書き込みます。続いて新たに書き込まれたキーワードに対し、同様に関連/するキーワード、想起されるキーワードを書き込んでいく、というステップを繰り返すことで、マインドマップは作成されます。

　FreeMindはWindowsおよびMac OS X、Linuxで動作します。また、実行にはjava.comからダウンロードできるJava Runtime Environment（JRE）が必要です。最新版のJREをダウンロードしてからインストールを行ってください。

IBM OpenDX, the successor to IBM Visualization Data Explorer, (known simply as DX) is a general-purpose software package for data visualization and analysis. It employs a data-flow driven client-server execution model and provides a graphical program editor that allows the user to create a visualization using a point and click interface. Applications can also be built on top of portions of the Data Explorer system, so that custom, turnkey applications can be easily developed using DX as the computational and rendering engine.

The Vexi Platform is used for creating and deploying rich user interfaces for Internet/intranet applications that look and feel like native applications. Vexi uses a combination of a subset of XML and Javascript to provide a simple API for the development of interactive visual components. Vexi provides an intuitive, themable widget set, created using this API. Vexi interfaces then communicate with server applications through XML-RPC or SOAP.
