S-terminal lets you create a secure X terminal. Regular X terminals pass unencrypted data between you the remote machine. S-terminal creates an encrypted tunnel through which all X traffic passes. It replaces the remote xdm login screen with a local application that collects username and password, then sets up an ssh tunnel to the remote host and starts a session. It is highly configurable both in appearance and behavior, and deployed S-terminals can be remotely administered. Best of all, it can be added to a KNOPPIX CD to create an instant, bootable, secure X terminal CD.

XPontus is a Java-based XML editor designed for
text editing. It aims to provide a free
alternative to commercial XML editors. It has been
reported to run correctly on Linux, Windows, Mac
OS X, Solaris, and FreeBSD. There are many
installers for platform convenience.

The LAPP stack includes Linux, Apache, PostgreSQL (instead of MySQL), PHP, Python, and Perl.

Hardened Linux is a hardened and minimalized Linux distribution based on Slackware. It includes a grsecurity/PaX patched
kernel, stack smashing protected and hardened
packages, additional security scripts, and
automatically enabled host intrusion detection.

Alpine Linux is a community developed operating system designed for x86 routers, firewalls, VPNs, VoIP boxes, and servers. It has proactive security features like PaX and SSP, which prevent security holes in the software from being exploited. It is based on uClibc and Busybox.

The CryptoNAS project wants to bring data
encryption to the masses. It provides two
packages: CryptoNAS-Server and CryptoNAS-CD. The
CryptoNAS-Server package adds hard disk encryption
to a file server (running Samba, NFS, DAV, etc.)
without annoying its users. The CryptoNAS-CD is
targeted at users who want to set up an encrypting
file server without bothering about complicated
administration issues.

System-Down::Rescue is a free downloadable live
distribution. It is designed to recover damaged
file-systems, copying the data around other
physical discs or networks, or burning them on a
CD-ROM, using cdrecord. It features a working
hardware detection system.

ClusterKnoppix is a modified Knoppix
distribution that uses the OpenMosix kernel. It
features an OpenMosix terminal server that uses
PXE, DHCP, and tftp to boot Linux clients via
the network. It also includes openMosix
auto-discovery, cluster management tools, and an
optional X environment.

rpmconf is a tool that searches for .rpmnew and .rpmsave files and asks you what to do with them. You can choose to keep the current version, place back the old version, or view the difference between the two before deciding.

Valvula is a high performance mail policy daemon for Postfix. It provides out of the box support for sender login mismatch, mail quotas, per user and per domain blacklists and whitelists, and much more. It is system administrator friendly, providing many automatic features like automatically detecting Postfix MySQL databases to determine local domains and local accounts. It is fully extensible through plugins.

LinVDR is a small, lightweight, ready-to-run and easy-to-install
distribution of VDR which can turn almost any PC with a DVB-s (digital
satellite) card into a digital hard disk recorder. It contains VDR
Admin for Web administration and Samba shares to upload your MP3 files
or download DVD images made from your TV recordings.
