qSheff is a wrapper for the qmail queue that scans
email for viruses and spam. After checking the
message, it will wake the qmail queue. It is a
replacement program for qscanq and RAV antivirus.
It is simple and more powerful. It features the
ability to quarantine, very nice logging, subject
filtering, a blackhole, easy installation, and
white/black lists.

Ryan's Anti-Virus Recipe is a Procmail recipe that
performs content-based (as opposed to
signature-based) filtering for common email viruses
using Procmail's scoring feature. Emails that are
determined to contain viruses are stamped with a
header indicating the name of the virus and are
filtered into a user-specified quarantine folder.

qmail-spp provides plug-in support for the qmail
SMTP daemon (qmail-smtpd). It allows you to write
external programs and use them to check SMTP
command argument validity. The plug-in can trigger
several actions, like denying a command with an
error message, logging data, adding a header, and
much more.

JHighlight is an embeddable Java syntax
highlighting library that supports Java, Groovy, C++, HTML,
XHTML, XML, and LZX languages and outputs to
XHTML. The library can be used in several ways:
embedded into another tool (for instance a blog
or forum), through the command-line to generate
highlighted files locally, or as a servlet filter
to highlight source files on your server on-the-
fly. It also supports RIFE templates tags and
highlights them clearly so that you can easily
identify the difference between your RIFE markup
and the actual marked up source.

Synonym is a flexible Milter-based extension
running on top of Sendmail allowing mail
administrators to copy SMTP traffic to a specified
mailbox, and drop and reject emails based on
regular expression filters.

fdm (fetch and deliver mail) is a simple, lightweight replacement for mail fetching, filtering, and delivery programs such as fetchmail and procmail. It can fetch using POP3, POP3S, IMAP, IMAPS, or stdin, and deliver to a pipe, file, maildir, mbox, or SMTP server, based on a set of regexps. It can be used for both single user and multiuser setups, and is designed with privilege separation when running as root.

HTML Purifier is PHP software for HTML filtering. It is an alternative to BBCode or other obscure custom markup languages. It will not only remove all malicious code (XSS), but will also make sure the HTML is standards compliant.

The Anomy mail sanitizer is a filter designed to block email-based security risks, such as trojans and viruses. It can scan an arbitrarily complex RFC822 or MIME message and remove or rename attachments, truncate unusually long MIME header fields and sanitize HTML by disabling Javascript, etc. It uses a single-pass pure Perl MIME parser, which can make it both more efficient and more precise than other similar programs. The sanitizer has built-in support for third-party virus scanners.

sa-exim-stats generates spam/mail statistics from an sa-exim logfile. sa-exim is a patch for Exim which integrates SpamAssassin into Exim. The script's output includes: total spam messages, total clean messages, spam percentage, top n spam/clean/overal recipients. The script is designed so that it doesn't have to scan the entire logfile everytime it is run (status can be saved to a file or in a MySQL database). It can create and update a RRD database, and some basic PHP pages to display the graphs are included.

Linguaphile is a simple command line language translator. It is open source, platform independent, and programmed in Perl. Linguaphile currently supports the following languages: Afrikaans, Alawa, Albanian, Arrernte, Basque, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Esperanto, Estonian, Finnish, French, Galician, German, Greek, Hawaiian, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Interlingua, Irish, Italian, Kala Lagaw Ya, Korean, Kriol, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malay, Maltese, Maori, Norwegian, Pitjantjatjara, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Samoan, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Thai, Tok Pisin, Turkish, Ukrainian, Warlpiri, and Welsh. The Spanish to English translation is the most useful at this stage.

XamimeLT is an email scanner which encapsulates
your existing sendmail or Postfix server setup. It
scans both incoming and outgoing email. It can
scan for email viruses, unwanted file types (eg.
EXE, BMP, MPEG) and file names (eg.
prettypark.exe), spam, and almost anything you
care to search for in an email. It can also be
used to scan for text snippets within emails and
to insert disclaimers into outbound emails.
