gxInstall is a software installer for Linux. It
allows you to create installation packages that
are self-extracting, support multiple languages,
support uninstallation, create menu items and a
desktop icon, and have an overhead size of only 50
kb. It has GUI (GTK 2) support, and is completely
script-based, flexible, and easy to use. It does
not use RPM, pkg, etc.

SysDirector is a template driven configuration
management system that allows administrators to
deliver content to machines in a protocol
independent fashion.

lt is a package management tool which can be used to install, query, check, update and remove software packages. Each package is located in its own directory, then symbolic links are used to make package files accessible in traditional common location (/usr/local). No database is used, and lt is simple and stateless.

NoodeInstaller attempts to make distributing software easier for people who don't know how to use make and RPM. It is simpler and less powerful than these traditional methods, but it should suffice for most people. Its features include NoodleUnInstaller (for automating uninstalls), TkNIAK (a GUI program for making the install scripts), and InstallMaker (for making self-extracting installers).

Driver On Demand is an automated driver
installation system for Linux that automatically
identifies devices that have no drivers and uses
an online database to install an appropriate
driver for that device without human interaction
(if requested). This makes it an ideal system for
newbies, as it takes away most of the
configuration part of Linux. The goal is to allow
users to plug in any device and have it instantly
work without the need to manually install drivers.

The JACAL Project is a suite of programs, scripts, guidelines, protocols, documentation, and diskettes that assist in quick, network based loads/builds of machines. It has been used to build 70 University lab machines from scratch (No OS) in two hours. This includes NT service packs and 80+ applications on the NT side.

gnome-pkgtool is a GTK+/GNOME front-end to
Slackware package management tools (pkgtool). You
can install/uninstall/upgrade .tgz packages, build
packages from source and install them, and inspect
package content. It relies on the installpkg(8)
and removepkg(8) tools for installing and
uninstalling packages, and on checkinstall for
building packages from source.

AutoSquidGuard is a script that allows you to create a standard squidGuard.conf file from a directory containing a source database filter. It is compatible with the urlblacklist.com tgz file format.

sptools is a set of utilities for maintaining packages
under slashpackage. They facilitate installation,
inspection, and manipulation of packages
in /package similarly to rpm, apt, etc.

apt-best is a utility to help users find the most
popular Debian packages. It uses the popularity
scores found in various locations (freshmeat at
the moment). It displays the packages matching the
user's search criteria, with their associated scores.

Access Control Designer is a universal modular tool for
visually designing access control policies. The user of
this system depicts requirements for the designed
security policy in a graphical notation based on a
generally accepted security model. The tool will then
generate a configuration of security mechanisms, which
will be used for the implementation of the security
policy. Modularity of the tool will allow users to design
security policies for a lot of various environments -
systems needed to have access controlled. A pluggable
module API allows third-party programmers to provide
ACD modules for systems and so allow users to use
ACD for designing access control policies for the
systems.

The Loki Update Tool was written by Loki Software to be used in conjunction with their Setup and Patch tools to automatically update installed products from online sources.
