Tagspam is suitable for situations where it is not possible for tagging to be done at the MTA receiving all mail for a domain (e.g., in virtual hosting situations, where it is only possible to tag and filter spam after this point). Tagspam makes use of DNSBL black and whitelists and may be installed to tag and thereby help filter mail for a single Linux or Unix user.

Implements Certified Server Validation (CSV) filtering in addition to DNSBL and DNSWL processing, based on draft-ietf-marid-csv-intro-02.txt . SPF processing was removed, as this did not seem useful. Now distributed under the Python license.

SPF (Sender Permitted From) pass whitelisting was
incorporated using a new checkspf.py module. Some
nasty global variables were cleaned up by putting
them into an object namespace. Much of the code
was packaged into a more reusable Tagspam class,
which allows for greater usage flexibility. A
bugfix was made for the regex used to find IP
addresses in the Received header chain.
