Déjà Dup is a simple backup tool. It hides the complexity of doing backups the 'right way' (encrypted, off-site, and regularly) and uses duplicity as the backend. It features upport for local or remote backup locations, including Amazon S3. It securely encrypts and compresses your data. It incrementally backs up, letting you restore from any particular backup. It schedules regular backups, and integrates well into your GNOME desktop.

The most visible new feature is much better support for external drives. Now Deja Dup will notice if the drive is not connected when a scheduled backup occurs, and will wait for it to be connected. It will notify you that it is waiting. There are various bugfixes. One big fix is that restoring no longer requires an enormous /tmp partition. And as always, a lot of spit, polish, and translation work went into this release.

This release's focus is on occasionally making fresh backups in order to protect against data corruption, reducing the bandwidth and space needed when restoring, and allowing the deletion of old backups when they are no longer needed. Since fresh backups can increase the time needed for a backup, Déjà Dup now supports resuming from an interrupted backup. Déjà Dup will wait for a network connection during scheduled runs and pause itself if the connection is interrupted. As always, plenty of spit, polish, bugfixes, and translation updates were done.
