PythonMarketplace is aimed to offer a distributed package index and installation tools for Python packages. The basic concept is similar to the "Eclipse Marketplace" including an Eclipse plugin, while supporting a decentralized architecture.
The Python marketplace provides an alternative for PyPI with easy support of Sourceforge.net, OSDN.net, Bitbucket.org, GitHub.com, and others, while still providing PyPI.org.
It supports more freedom and project name safety with much more flexible project allocation and though hierarchical namespaces. The most of the restrictions and oddities posed by PEP-541 are thus obsoleted.
The project will also utilize adapted and streamlined installers and libraries for the common tools setuptools/distutils, pip and twine as provided by the project DPyPI.
