I didn't do anything especially to use 'encoded-kb'. I still get the message when I use emacs -q, so I don't think it is my configuration. > > I'd rather not have two copies of Emacs (aside from the Mac OS X one, > > of course, which is too old anyway :) Is there any way I can tell > > Emacs where it is installed so the above doesn't happen? > > Which way were you launching Carbon Emacs? I am launching the 'emacs' version inside the bundle, i.e., on my machine, /Users/nicholas/Applications/Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS/bin/emacs. > If you want a version of GNU Emacs 22.0.50 that runs in X11 as in > Aqua, there is the option to get the sources from CVS and compile > them in the emacs/mac directory with ./make-package. I don't want to use Emacs in X11, just inside Terminal. (I also use the Carbon Emacs as a Mac app, but sometimes I SSH to my Mac from other places and can't use it.) Will I get the same copy of Emacs if I check out from CVS and apply the patches then? I'd prefer not to have to build from source, but if that is the only way, I will. -- Nicholas Riley <njril****@uiuc*****> | <http://www.uiuc.edu/ph/www/njriley>
