The Mobile Device Information project is a Java Swing application that provides desktop interface access to the WURFL (Wireless Universal Resource FiLe). The WURFL contains information about the capabilities of a huge number of wireless devices. The Mobile Device Information project allows users to search for individual devices, or devices that meet certain criteria, e.g. "Which Nokia phones are MIDP-2.0 enabled and support at least 65536 colours?"

A problem where devices that forward-reference their fallback devices in the WURFL file (and patch files) were not being correctly included was fixed. Exceptions that occurred where capabilities were defined in devices, but not initialised in the "generic" device were fixed. Right-clicking the Results list now shows a simple text version of the results for selection and copying. A new test for finding "rogue" capabilities was added in the WURFL Analysis tool.

This version contains several major changes, both functional and architectural. Color coding of capability fields and searching of only overridden values. An editor was added to allow editing of existing devices, the addition of new devices, and the addition of capabilities. Changes are saved to a WURFL patch file. A significant amount of refactoring and reorganization has been performed. The number of classes has more than doubled. These have been organised into two new packages: com.ossltd.mdevinf.model and com.ossltd.mdevinf.ui.

Start version of mDevInf. A link has been provided that should allow
access to the Web Start version (if you have Java 1.5 or newer available
to your browser). If you are already using the binary version 0.6, there
is no need to upgrade, as there will be no noticeable difference. No
other changes to functionality or application operation have been made
in this release.
