This release features Gnome 2.20, KDE 3.5.8 (and KDE 4 Beta from the repositories), and Xfce 4.4.1. NetworkManager was enhanced. PulseAudio is now the default sound server. Board (an optional GNOME panel replacement) and
Codec Buddy (a helper
application for restricted multimedia codecs) have
been integrated. The
x86_64 kernel now also supports tickless
operation. The need for xfs has
been eliminated, to reduce boot time and power
consumption.
