DeSmuME（デスミューミ）は、オープンソースで開発されているニンテンドーDSエミュレーターです。!WindowsおよびLinux、Mac OS Xで動作し、多機能かつ高速・高品質なのが特徴です。

DeSmuMEは当初フランス人のYopYop156氏が開発を行っていましたが、フランス国内の法律の改正のため、開発がいったん中止され、ソースコードが公開されました。そのコードをベースに、何人かの有志が独自に改良を加えたDeSmuMEをリリースしていましたが、その後開発者らは協力して「DeSmuME Team」を結成、現在もDeSmuMEの開発やリリースを続けています。

ちなみに、DeSmuMEという名前は「DS」と「EMU（Emulatorの略）」と「ME」から来ているそうです。かつて有名なニンテンドーDS改造ツールに「FlashMe」や「PassMe」というものがありましたが、そこから「Me」を取ってきて「DS Emu」とつなげて並び替えて「DeSmuME」となった模様。

MAME Plus!プロジェクトは2002年5月に開始(最初のバージョンは0.60)し、当初はMEMEのためにUnicodeサポートを実装するために始まりました。現在のMAME Plus! では、素晴しい非公式ビルドによって多くの機能が実現されています。

Xen is a virtual machine monitor for x86 that supports execution of multiple guest operating systems in isolated environments.

QEMU is a fast processor emulator. Using dynamic translation it achieves a reasonable speed while being easy to port to new host CPUs. In its user mode emulation mode, it can launch Linux processes compiled for one CPU on another CPU. Linux system calls are converted because of endianness and 32/64 bit mismatches. In its full system emulation mode, it emulates a full system, including a processor and various peripherials.
