Associations Indexing Service (AIS) was originally done as an extension of human memory for tagging (storing under personal keywords and associations) resources, URIs, bookmarks, and memos (for fast access to the information in future) by using the same keywords or queries, similar to popular search engines.
It can be seen as a local search engine, used as an automatic indexer of big file hierarchies (e.g. personal archives or files repositories). It is based on Lucene, so the application will remain very fast with any size index.

Slidematch is a media rating, contextual retrieval, peer recommendation, and library management system for music, video, movie, and book impressions. It adds value to your existing media player by enabling you to easily record detailed impressions, retrieve content appropriate to what you are currently doing, and interact with friends.

bot_recognizer is a PHP class that can be used to recognize Web robots and handle them specially. It can check the IP address of the computer or the user agent of the browser program currently accessing the Web server to determine if it is within a range of IP addresses known to be of Web robots like search engine site crawlers or even malicious crawlers. The class can call different callback functions depending on the type of crawler that was identified. It can also be set on debug mode by taking a given IP address or string as user agent instead of the user agent string sent by the accessing browser. The Web robots information is stored in a database. The class can load that database from a text data file.

taggrepper is a simple program to match several tags of media files, currently Ogg Vorbis and MP3 files, against specified regular expressions. It works on individual files as well as recursively traversing directory trees for media files.

G2P is a tool to help you get the music you want. It opens a Web browser to Google and instructs it to search certain criteria to find a link that lets you download the music you want, whether it be a full album or just one song.

FuzzyIndex indexes text for performing fuzzy searches using PHP and SQLite. It can process a list of text strings and build a database which indexes snippets of those strings and the locations where they appear. The class can also search for given keywords and returns the locations of the indexed strings where the best-matching text appears. It uses SQLite to store the indexed text database, but the class can be extended to use a different database type. It uses certain heuristics to extract the snippets from the indexed text. These heuristics are implemented as separate classes which can be used interchangeably.

mimescan searches for a file within another file using the MIME database. It works similarly to the Unix command "file", but instead of searching only the header, it advances byte by byte, looking for the second file type. It uses the libmagic library.

Solr-PHP-UI is a user interface for searching with Apache Lucene/Solr, providing faceted searching in documents, images, sheets, and databases, with visualizations with wordclouds and charts.

odesk-qml provides a customizable search graphical interface for the oDesk service.

Anamnesis is a clipboard history manager. It stores the clipboard history and offers an easy interface (GUI and command line) for performing full-text searches on it.

Ackr is a very small subset of grep/ack/rak, for lazy developers. grep is a great tool, a very powerful tool, but often too powerful for simple needs. Ackr looks for a search string in all text files and in all subfolders from the working directory, is case insensitive, has no options, doesn't look into hidden folders/files, and displays the search term in a bold font.
