Trojita is a Qt IMAP email client. It is a pure Qt4 application with no additional dependencies. It has a robust IMAP core implemented using Qt's Model-View framework. Standards compliance is a design goal. It has support for bandwidth-saving mode aimed at mobile users with expensive connections. In addition to the usual SSL/TLS connections, the server can be accessed via SSH. It has on-demand body part loading, offline IMAP support, and safe dealing with HTML mail (actually more robust than Thunderbird's).

pam_imap is a PAM module that authenticates against a remote IMAP or IMAPS server. It supports multiple servers, SSL, password caching, user blacklists (for admin users), and many configuration abilities.

mysqmail is a replacement for the qmail standard
checkpasswd that performs authentication with a MySQL
table.
After authentication, it sets up two environment
variables that it uses to perform traffic accounting. For
SMTP, it provides an alternative logger for the
qmail-send program. Instead of logs, it writes the traffic to
a MySQL table for the related domain.

PyWebMail is a Python library and POP3 gateway
that allows you to work with webmail servers as if
they were POP3 or IMAP mail servers. Currently,
support for Mail.Com, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail,
Netscape, HotMail and some minor servers is
finished.

spliff is a GUI mail watcher (written in Perl/Tk)
inspired by TkRat's Watcher utility. It will
watch your mail and display various header
information from your most recent messages.

xmailheaders is a mail notification utility that
is based on the "mailbox" utility that's avilable
on Solaris workstations. The idea is that it sits
on your desktop somewhere, periodically polling
the mail server/spool for new messages. New
message headers are displayed as they come in.
Supported mailbox formats are POP3, IMAPv4, and
Unix mbox. SSL-based password authentication is
also supported for POP and IMAP.

phPOP3clean is a spam, virus, and worm filtering
system for POP3 email accounts. It is designed to
run as a cron job and can catch spam based on
links to blacklisted IPs, obfuscated words, or
blacklisted phrases in the message body as well as
attached-image spam, email worms, and corrupted or
malformed emails.

maildirpop3d offers multiple POP mailboxes (with
distinct passwords) controlled by a single shell
account. It is a checkpassword replacement, and
sits between qmail-popup and qmail-pop3d. If it
sees a username like "joe-foo", and
~joe/Maildir-foo is a directory, it invokes
qmail-pop3d (as joe) on ~joe/Maildir-foo.
maildirpasswd (included) is then invoked by joe to
set the password for the joe-foo mailbox. The
password is then encrypted and stored.

qmailcheck looks for new mail in multiple IMAP mail boxes. If you get a lot of mail and split the messages into separate boxes (typically on the server side using procmail or sieve), then checking all the boxes by hand can be tedious. QMailcheck displays the results in a formatted list, highlighting the newest items. When new mail arrives in a folder, it is capable of raising the window, issuing a system notification, flashing the LED (on phones only), and vibrating (on phones only), all on a per-folder basis.

pop3check is small, fast mail checking application that queries POP3 servers for new mail. It was written in C and aims to be very configurable. Most notable features include: multiple POP3 server support, header summaries, and command execution upon notification of new mail.

popwatcher is a daemon that maintains a list of hosts that are
authorized to use your mailserver as an SMTP relay based on those
hosts successfully authenticating to your POP mail server. The default
configuration is designed to work with qpopper and exim, but can be
used with other mailers and POP servers.

Websieve Scripting Tool is a Perl CGI script that allows users to create complex Sieve syntax filtering rules, including a vacation response message, using a simple form on a Cyrus IMAP mail server. It also allows the setting of mailbox ACLs and password changes (LDAP and Qualcomm poppassd).

jPOPc is a simple, threaded, multi-part, UTF-8
compliant POP3 email client.

vdpop3d has been designed to be a secure, fast,
and reliable POP 3 server. It's easy to configure,
supports many authentication features, supports
virtual users (per-domain auth, so the same user
can exist in a lot of domains), and is
thread-based for scalability.

qmailfordummies simplifies the installation of
the powerful mail server qmail, Web mail,
IMAP, and a mail administration system. A
single binary file automates the process for
RedHat 7.1 on i386 platforms.
