DHSD is a Dynamic DNS record updater for dhs.org services.

mod_dnssd adds DNS-SD Zeroconf support to Apache
2.2 using Avahi.

Nameserver Query Tool performs nameserver zone transfer
queries on user input host then outputs and formats the
information with a nice list of one host per line.

Yakuns is a simple DNS server that can work as a
primary or secondary nameserver, or as a DNS cache
for a small LAN with Internet access. The software
was used in the past mainly in order to create
embedded systems. It includes security features
like chroot and root dropping.

inetdxtra is a collection of inetd servers aimed
at low-powered hardware like the Linksys NSLU2. It
comprises a lightweight DNS, DHCP, CTCS, MVPrelay, HTTP Proxy,
SMTP, WWW, and XMPP/Jabber server.

IPv4/IPv6 DNS and DHCP config generator is a tool
that can be used to generate DNS and DHCP
configuration files from a central configuration
file. It supports IPv4 and IPv6 addresses and
reverse zones and multiple IPv4 networks, and
generates one reverse DNS zone for each /24 network.

tdns-conv is a tool to work with DJBDNS datafiles
so that you can access them easier via Web admin
or some other method. The aim is to have XML,
HTML, text, and tinydns-data formats available for
input and output (so you can use an XML file for
editing).

sheerdns is a master DNS server whose zone records are stored on a One-Record-Per-File bases. Because of this, it is the simplest of any DNS to configure, the easiest to update, and the most efficient for networks that experience a lot of updates (for example master servers for dynamic IP address ranges). You never have to restart it; any updates are available immediately without having to notify the sheerdns process.

Zoned manages BerkeleyDB zone databases using the
BDB Replication Base API. It manages all node
communication and eases the difficulties that
BerkeleyDB replication imposes (such as making
sure that all zone changes go straight to the
master node for transaction processing). It
requires the BIND9 DLZ BDBHPT driver.

SFI Director is a tool for managing distributed, heterogeneous UNIX Systems. Its functionality includes System Configuration, Application Distribution, NIS and NIS+ Management, User Creation, and Dynamic System Documentation. It is in service at a number of sites, managing networks of 50 to 200+ UNIX nodes, under Linux, Solaris, Digital UNIX, and HP-UX.

dnstop is a libpcap application (ala tcpdump) that
displays various tables of DNS traffic on your
network. It currently displays tables of source IP
addresses, destination IP addresses, query types,
response codes, opcodes, top level domains, second
level domains, third level domains, etc.

Bind Controler is a tool that can be used to
remotely add domains to named.conf on a
secondary DNS server, with one simple UDP packet.
It will reconfigure the server when needed, with
ndc (rndc if 9x bind is used).

captivednsd, the captive domain name server,
returns the same authorative response to every
query.

The Posadis Zone Editor is a graphical tool to edit DNS (Domain Name System) zones using DNS update. Because it uses zone transfers, you can simply edit the DNS zone, and have only the changes transferred to the DNS server.
