EasyBMP is a cross-platform C++ library for reading and writing Windows bitmap (BMP) files. Designed for ease of use, it requires no installation or external libraries, is small in size, well-documented, and is simple enough for the novice programmer to start in just minutes.

Kognition is an omnifont OCR software for KDE. It
is the result of two diploma theses about omnifont
optical character recognition which are included
as documentation (in German). Due to the fact that
each step of the OCR process can be visualized you
can get a quick idea of how OCR works and where
the problems lie. However the program may be of minor/no use for end users in its current state.

Tumble converts one or more TIFF (B&W only) and
JPEG files into a PDF file. It was developed
primarily for use with scanned images. B&W images
will be encoded with Group 4 fax (T.6) lossless
compression. JPEG images are embedded as-is.
Tumble supports multi-page TIFF files, and can
generate PDF outline entries (bookmarks) based on
the file name and/or the page number.

The icoutils are a set of programs for extracting and converting images in Microsoft Windows icon and cursor files. These files usually have the extension .ico or .cur, but they can also be embedded in executables and libraries (.dll-files). Icoutils can also create icon and cursor files.

GL2PS is a C library providing high quality vector
output for any OpenGL application. It uses sorting
algorithms capable of handling intersecting and
stretched polygons, as well as non manifold
objects. It provides advanced smooth shading and
text rendering, culling of invisible primitives,
mixed vector/bitmap output, and much more. It can
currently create PostScript (PS), Encapsulated
PostScript (EPS), Portable Document Format
(PDF), and Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) files, as well as LaTeX files for the text fragments.

Motiontrack is a set of tools that detects motion
between two images. It is able to successfully
distinguish random flicker from real object
movement by applying a set of filters to the
images, and can optionally ignore given colors
and/or image regions. The roadmap provides for
being able to identify objects by pattern
detection and AI routines. Currently, this part is
able to turn line-art images into ASCII-art text
and auto-align images which are slightly staggered
or contorted. This might also be useful to correct
the perspective of image sources from different 3D
angles.

ttf2pt1 is a converter of various scalable font formats (most notably TTF) and of the bitmapped BDF format into PostScript Type 1 fonts and metrics (.pfa, .pfb, .afm).

libgocr is a library to help the creation of OCR
engines. Engines are released as plugins, and can
take advantage of several features that the
library provides. Frontends to the library can be
written for any kind of environment.

ICCLIB implements support for reading and writing of color profile files that conform to the International Color Consortium (ICC) Profile Format Specification, Version 3.4. The ICC Profile Format is a cross-platform device profile format that can be used to translate color data created on one device into another device's native color space. See the profile specification at color.org. In summary ICCLIB provides support for all version 3.4 header elements, Tags, and Tag Types, conversion to/from machine native representation of all data types, user-defined Tags, adding/deleting Tags, Tag type sharing within a file (often used for sharing LUTs amongst intents), reading/writing embedded profiles, a single function for transforming color values through a profile (including support for intents, forward and reverse transforms, gamut lookup or preview lookup), support and code examples for creating all profile types, monochrome, matrix, and Lut, and it loads Tag Types on demand to conserve memory space.

unpaper is a post-processing tool for scanned
sheets of paper, especially for book pages that
have been scanned from previously created
photocopies. It can make scanned pages more
readable on a screen and more acceptable for OCR.
unpaper removes dark edges from the image and also
tries to unskew or rotate pages to make the text
horizontal.

WebPack is a shell script for automatically packing Web sites by shrinking them without affecting their functionality or appearance.
It is also useful for losslessly shrinking image collections and locating corrupt files. It works by stripping unnecessary information and optimizing the compression of images, and by removing comments/whitespace from HTML, using readily-available tools.

UNG (UNG’s Not Gallery) is an image gallery script for control freaks, tweakers, and other power users. It browses subdirectories (uploaded manually via FTP, SCP, or another protocol) of a specified location and creates a hierarchy of categories and pictures. It automatically creates thumbnails for images that don’t have them already and has an optional comment system so people can discuss posted pictures.

SVGSlice is a simple tool which generates chopped
up images from Inkscape SVG drawings. To figure
out where to cut, SVGSlice can use Inkscape's
built in guides (for simpler, grid-like cuts), or
it can use a specially named "slices" layer that
contains rectangles that mark areas to slice. Demo
files showing both approaches are included.
